Tracy Saunders is a Hypnotherapist in Marbella, and also a  Special Needs Testing Consultant and School Counsellor /Director of Headstart Learning Centre with offices at International College San Pedro, and Benahavis village. Formerly with her main office at Calpe College, also in San Pedro, she has worked with children in international schools on the Costa del Sol for almost 20 years, and prior to that was a member of the faculty at the Counselling Centre, Brock University, Canada. She holds Master's Degrees in Philosophy, Applied Linguistics, and Counselling Psychology, and various Diplomas in Educational Resources and Special Needs, Hypnotherapy, and Applied Eco Psychology from a number of prestigious colleges and universities in the Canada, the US, and the UK.

I found that many children have learning problems not because they have "Special Needs" such as Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorders, but because they are attempting to function in an environment in which they felt insecure. The reasons are many: in some cases a move to Spain had left them with skill gaps.  In others - and this is common -parental difficulties had left them with other, sometimes too adult, things which dominated their lives.  I have always said that "No True Learning Can take Place In An Insecure Environment".  Over the years, I have found that working directly with the parents, or primary caregiver, has helped release the child from these insecurities. Parents often blame themselves for their children's difficulties.

For this reason, I have extended my education to focus more on the emotional side of difficulties.  When I was first introduced to clinical hypnosis, three years ago, I recognised a way that I could not only help the children academically, but also help their parents deal with trauma and the everyday difficulties which plague most of us here in the south of Spain from time to time.  There is a need for psychotherapy and counselling on the Costa del Sol. We are recognisably an affluent society, but I see many instances of insecurity, unhappiness, and distress, despite outward appearances of affluence and success.   This led me to work on gaining extra qualifications in counselling, which I have followed up with a recognized and certified Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis.  I am now available for both adults and children.
